Tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States are reaching an all-time high as the US sends a carrier strike group to the region in response to Iranian threats of an attack.
As of May 1, the Trump administration has declared that no country may buy oil from Iran. Before May, Iran had already fallen into a deep recession due to previous limited sanctions; its economy may shrink 6% this year. Inflation is heading toward 40%, and the nation's currency has virtually collapsed. Newly tightened oil sanctions have deprived the Tehran government of at least $10 billion in revenue. Also problematic for Iran, the US government recently declared the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a designated a terrorist organization.
In response to US actions, Iran has threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz which is used by several nations for transporting oil. Additionally, several Iranian generals have threatened U.S. forces, saying the lives of American troops around the world are in danger.
However, Iran has limited options and looks to be turning its attention to Israel as one way to get back at the US. Iran, through Islamic Jihad - its proxy in Gaza - is behind the current missile escalation in Israel. Islamic Jihad, unlike Hamas, is a completely owned and operated Iranian subsidiary. It was established by Iran, financed by Iran, and does what Iran wants it to do.
Iran is looking to draw Israel into another major operation in Gaza, freeing up Tehran to do what it wants unhindered in Syria & elsewhere. The Iranian idea is that Israel will be busy focusing on Gaza and not have enough energy to deal with its actions around the region, which include smuggling arms to Hezbollah, building up its presence and influence in Syria and working with Russia to construct two more nuclear facilities in the Bushehr province, Bushehr 2 and 3.
Israel has threatened that it will never allow Iran to become a nuclear power and would use all means necessary to prevent this. Sanctions may have slowed down Iran's nuclear program, but it seems inevitable that these two nations will clash, just as the Bible describes.
While all of the above is bringing tension to a breaking point, thousands of Iranians are converting from Islam to Christianity through visions, dreams, miracles, healings and personal encounters with Christ. Iran has become the fastest growing evangelical population in the world!
Is the stage now set for Jeremiah's ancient prophecy of Elam to roll off its parchment and create a nuclear disaster in Iran that affects the entire Mideast region?
Iran has double trouble in the end times. The Islamic country is the subject of two separate prophecies. Jeremiah 49:34-39 prophesies about Elam (Iran) and Ezekiel 38 foretells the future of Persia (Iran).
Jeremiah's prophecy of Elam was written first, but has been vastly overlooked by most of today's top Bible prophecy teachers. The prophecy seems to be dealing with Iran's nuclear future and how it affects the Middle East. You can learn more about the prophecy through the well researched Bill Salus book and DVD entitled, Nuclear Showdown in Iran, Revealing the Ancient Prophecy of Elam.
