Welcome to the United Church of Christ, where the Bible has become "problematic." The New Testament is not the Word of God. And if certain passages offend? "We need to pull that page out." One pastor's conclusion: perhaps Christianity now needs a "Third Testament."
For 12 hours a day -- from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (EST) -- until April 25, hundreds of Christian leaders are rotating in and out of the Museum of the Bible in downtown D.C., taking turns publicly reading through every verse from Genesis to Revelation. The historic event, called America Reads the Bible, is believed to be the largest of its kind in U.S. history.
On a recent episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Tucker Carlson did something few in conservative media have dared to do: he openly questioned whether Donald Trump could, in any sense, fit the biblical profile of the Antichrist.
Newly released polling data has confirmed what many pastors and churchgoers have long suspected: young men are bucking the cultural trend of declining religiosity and returning to the church in droves.
Trans activists loudly claim that medicalizing gender confused youth is "settled science" and saves lives. This is meant to shut down any doubt or debate on this critically important topic. Thankfully, a few undeterred scholars are asking important questions and demonstrating just how false trans activists' claims really are.
The "moderates" who once made up the pro-Israel wing of the Democratic Party, are now voting with the Israel-haters in order to hold on to their seats as poll after poll has shown the Democrat base oppose Israel and favor their terrorist enemies.
Sadly, most widespread Bible ignorance is largely due to a lack of trying. The size and complexity of Scripture may intimidate people from ever cracking the cover. Yet biblical muscles, like physical muscles, are best developed through small amounts of exercise every day.
While the pope attacks America for waging war against Islamists, he fails to attack Islamists for their persecution and murder of Christians. He said instead that people should be "a little less fearful" of Islam, and this week that "Islam is a religion of peace we can learn from."
This was not merely a routine leadership event for Lutherans. It was a revealing snapshot of where the denomination stands today--and perhaps more importantly, where it is heading. Of the five candidates presented, three are in openly same-sex relationships, and all are aligned with gender-affirming theology.
The real danger for Washington is not failure, but the illusion of success. A deal signed, a regime weakened, a new brutal authority emerging -- presented as a "solution."
